Harrogate Private GP offers high-quality, safe and holistic general practice care, with a focus on time, continuity and personalised decision-making. The service is led by three highly experienced local GPs—Dr Ben Shacklock, Dr Tim Rider and Dr Joy Shacklock—who have worked for many years as NHS GPs in Harrogate and know the local community well.

As general practitioners, we have particular expertise in whole-person medical care, with extensive experience in managing complexity, uncertainty and risk. This allows us to provide care that is measured, personalised and grounded in sound clinical judgement.
Our clinicians each have over 20 years’ experience working within the NHS, including many years serving the Harrogate community. Alongside this, we also provide private medical care, allowing us to offer unhurried, face-to-face appointments with a strong focus on continuity and careful clinical decision-making. Care is coordinated thoughtfully, with a clear understanding of local services and referral pathways.
Appointments are primarily delivered in person, reflecting our belief in the value of thorough, face-to-face assessment. We aim to make access straightforward and flexible, with appointment times arranged to suit individual needs. Our clinical building is accessible. Appointments can be booked directly via our website and follow-up is planned carefully to ensure clarity, continuity and reassurance.
