Rudding Estate is a widely diversified country estate with a beautifully appointed, exclusive collection of office spaces and homes to rent and offering leisure services and a hub for wellbeing business practitioners.
The Estate is 1300 acres of prime Yorkshire countryside around the pretty village of Follifoot, just 3 miles from Harrogate town and a short drive from Leeds, York and major transport links.
Historical Estate
A LECACY OF HERITAGE AND CHARM
Dating back to the 1700’s, Rudding Estate was centred around Rudding House and the village of Follifoot within the forest of Knaresborough.
In 1972, The Mackaness family purchased the Estate from the Radcliffe family and set about major development of properties and facilities, including the conversion of farm dwellings and providing mains services for all properties.
In 2003, Mark Mackaness became custodian of the Estate, where he remains dedicated to ensuring that all aspects of the Estate are developed to the highest standards with the emphasis on quality at all times.

Nature friendly

The business parks have also benefited from nature-friendly landscaping and planting and from the introduction of wildflower borders.
In 2020, the Estate decided to fully explore nature-friendly farming and dedicated 250 acres to this cause. Banning the use of agri-chemicals on the land and introducing many more nature friendly practices, the Estate has since worked with the White Rose Forest and the Northern Forest to plant over 60,000 native species trees, has planted and laid several kilometres of hedgerows, built leaky dams and ponds to alleviate flooding downstream and to benefit wildlife and has altogether transformed the landscape.
Our regular bird surveys indicate that more species of birds are visiting the estate, and this year we are hoping that the ponds and wetlands created by the leaky dams will be attracting waterfowl, frogs and other amphibians.
Wellbeing & Leisure
ON RUDDING ESTATE
The Estate has more to offer than offices to let and houses to rent, it has become a centre for wellbeing with a private gym and personal trainers, a pilates studio and contrast therapy centre, PHYSIOTHERAPISTS AND a sports injury and performance clinic, a chiropractor and beauty treatment rooms including specialist skin services, holistic massage and permanent makeup.
